For my Psychology/Sociology classes, I'm doing an independent study project for the end of the year. My topic is "The Truth About Models", to give insight on what is true about models rather than what we think we know. What do you think it takes to be a model? Is there anything that you know about them that not a lot of us know? Have you learned anything about them? Give me your opinions and facts. (:
If you want to take a look at my Prezi project on this topic, click here.
Thank you. <3
I think it takes a lot to be a model, while some people just think its starving yourself and then walking down a runway. A lot of models actually diet and exercise or just have metabolisms that burn fat so fast that they just stay so thin. My opinion on models is that models come in all shapes in sizes. There are plus size models who look just as good as the skinnier models.
ReplyDeleteIt takes dedication and skill. Basically the little that I do know about modeling is from the Show "America's Next Top Model". I think models have to be extremely tall and skinny. They have to have very good balance in those high heels. I don't know much but I do respect models. The only thing that I get confused about is why models spend so much time on their poses and their walks. I feel like they over-plan for their walk. Is it hard to do that? I don't know..
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes modeling, I believe it takes more than just looking pretty for the camera. You have to use your element, the lighting , and most of all your body & face to capture the art. That's what modeling really is, art. We think all models need to be a 20 on a scale of 1 to 10 and be 6 foot 7 and weigh 95 lbs but no,they don't. Yes, height and being fit is preferred BUT I've seen models below average model height who've had success modeling. I've seen women a little thicker than the rest have success,so in my opinion, modeling is an art of its own that shouldn't be secluded to a certain type. If you have the knack for it, try it but just because you take a few Instagram photos doesn't mean you're a model...build a portfolio.
ReplyDeleteto be a model you need a unique quality, sure you can have a pretty face or nice body, but you need to bring something to the industry that is rarely seen or never seen like huge eyes or weird birthmarks, qualities like that. You also need to know how to work the camera, know what side is your most photogenic side. You need to know how to smile with your eyes, how to present yourself, and also know that modeling is not about perfection but about your ability to go out of your comfort zone and do things no model has done before
ReplyDeleteUsually successful models are at least 5'9 although their have been cases, like Kate moss for example who is only about 5'6, where shorter girls have made it big. Also if the shorter girls do make it big they usually have some quality like being extremely thin or an unusual face feature that makes them stand out. modeling agency's don't necessarily look for specific features but just for beautiful interesting girls, which come in many different forms. Some quality's you will find often in models however is far apart eyes, full lips, and many have unusually small noses but their are also many who have quite big ones as well. To put yourself out there you first have to make a portfolio, a collection of some of your best pictures, and take it to different modeling agency's too see if they like you or not, the agency's will give you a good idea too see if you can make it in the high competitive world of modeling.

i believe that models dont get enough credit .. and instead if being looked at positively by the society they are somewhat looked down on because of their size and the stereotypes that are project to the society about the certain criterias it takes in order to be a "qualified model". i am not saying modeling is for everyone, but it is not ONLY for that 6ft 2in girl who only weighs 100 pounds and wears a size 0.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, confidence and being comfortable in your own skin are essentials to being a model. Yes, it is difficult to fit in to the modeling world when you're not the ideal image most people are looking for, but it's not impossible. Like I said, confidence goes a long way. A healthy diet is also very important to a model. The food you eat affects your figure of course and the health of your skin. A model's portfolio usually expresses the man/woman's personality and mood, so why not be yourself and just have fun !
